“Bill on cryptocurrency is ready, but we won’t hasting it” – Ministry of Finance
According to Alexei Moiseyev, deputy minister of finance, the ministry will hold a series of meetings with experts to discuss the bill regulating cryptocurrency.
He said that the document will be amended after meetings with experts.
Mr. Moiseyev is sure that a direct ban on cryptocurrency is a wrong decision. However, he added that the government should restrain transaction related to money laundering and financing of terrorism. Quoting official European sources, deputy minister of finance said 80% of all suspicious transactions related to illegal actions are made using Bitcoin.
According to Mr. Moiseyev, text of the bill should be amended. “I’m not sure if what we wrote is what I wanted to” he said.
The law regulating cryptocurrency has been developing by the Ministry of Finance since 2014. Currently not a single version of it was aired in the Parliament.
